PROTECTING

OUR

PLANET

Elemental You loves being around nature and using natural elements in our products. However, protecting them so they will remain for generations to come is crucial. So even though we are a really small company, we want to do what we can to curb climate change. In fact, we believe everyone plays a part by the choices they make. Elemental you chooses to minimize our carbon footprint by practicing sustainability, choosing to work with companies with similar goals and investing in the planets future.

Practicing Sustainability

Practicing sustainability is about keeping in mind how our daily tasks effect the environment. Our biggest impact area is the strategic sourcing our supplies. Not only do we want them to have sustainability goal we also want them to be close. This supports our local economy but also reduces shipping and our carbon footprint thus protecting our planet. We are a digital office so we have little paper waste. We maximize the use of our materials and recycle what we can. We have even reduced our scrap while creating additional value to our customers. The free stand that comes with each medallion is made from what use to be scrap.

Our Suppliers

Our wood is purchased from another small family business. They are protecting the planet by using restorative practices. They uses trees that are first inspected by a forester and marked as old growth. This helps ensure younger trees can continue to grow and makes room for new saplings to take root. Forest growth in the US currently exceeds annual harvest by 33%.

In addition, they take the sawdust “waste” and combine it with shredded office paper and compress it into briquettes. These are then used to heat their facility and local homes in their community.

Investing in Carbon Collection

1.5% of our total sales (not profit) goes towards investing in projects protecting the planet. These projects are attempting to curb climate change by removing carbon from the air. This is not something we could do alone. We are part of a collective of businesses called Stripe Climate Collective. It includes over 25,000 businesses in 39 countries. To find our more about our contributions and for more information about the projects we are supporting, check out Stripe Climate Collective.

Protecting the Planet, What is Carbon Collection

Carbon collection, also known as carbon sequestration, is a groundbreaking strategy in the fight against climate change. It involves capturing carbon dioxide emissions from industrial processes and power plants and storing them underground or repurposing them for various uses. This process prevents CO2, a major greenhouse gas, from entering the atmosphere and contributing to global warming. Utilizing advanced technologies like direct air capture and carbon capture and storage (CCS), carbon collection initiatives are pivotal in reducing carbon emissions and mitigating the impact of climate change on our planet. By investing in these initiatives, even small businesses and organizations can actively participate in the transition to a low-carbon economy, fostering environmental sustainability and innovation.

In this noble endeavor, teaming up with organizations like Stripe Climate becomes instrumental. Stripe Climate, an initiative by the online payment processing company Stripe, empowers small businesses to support carbon removal projects and accelerate the development of carbon removal technologies. By collaborating with Stripe Climate, companies can contribute to high-impact projects that remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, promoting innovative solutions and sustainable practices. This partnership not only helps businesses fulfill their environmental responsibilities but also fosters a sense of collective responsibility, as companies join forces to address one of the most pressing challenges of our time. Through this collaboration, the collective effort of small businesses and organizations can drive meaningful change, creating a positive impact in the quest to protect the environment and inspiring others to follow suit in the pursuit of a greener, more sustainable future.
